ok, so here's a boy that is VERY important to tsukki. yamaguchi
has been his friend since they were younger, and he didn't meet tsukki until after the shock and disappointment after he found out his brother was never on the volleyball team, despite how desperately hard he tried. so, at that point, tsukki was growing more bitter, and stopped applying himself to most things. yamaguchi is basically a kid that's been bullied for a great portion of his childhood and, as a result, he was insecure and unsure of himself. that being said, tsukki isn't entirely sure why someone like yamaguchi--who is pretty much a better person that he thinks he is--wanted to be friends with him, but he's glad that yamaguchi didn't abandon him.
this all being said, i have a lot of feels about their friendship. basically, yamaguchi is kind of like family to tsukki at this point, they've been together a long time, and he's pretty sure there's no one out there that knows him better. yamaguchi knows that tsukki can be sincere and docile, that he just has a lot of hurt all curled up inside him, and that he has self-esteem issues, and doesn't want to fail anyone or be disappointed--or BE a disappointment to anyone. tsukki has rubbed off on yamaguchi's overall personality to the point where yamaguchi has a kind of catty sense of humor from time to time. as well, tsukki is generally inspired by how bubbly yamaguchi is and how he's not usually all doom and gloom.
as well, a very important turning point for them was when yamaguchi finally stood his ground and really bitched tsukki out for the way he went about volleyball. after yelling at him during the training arc, tsukki pretty much turned himself around--mostly cause he realized he was doing the very thing he didn't want to do, and was disappointing the best friend he's ever had, that only ever believed in him, and wanted good things for him. so, like i said, their friendship is very important in tsukki's character development, and in yamaguchi's as well, since tsukki has kind of taught him to not really take shit from people. also tsukki will defend him whenever.
i also think that he'll be very important in tsukki's eventually relationship with kuroo. like, i'd love for yamaguchi to be really critical of kuroo and everything he does like in the 'you hurt my best friend i'll make you regret it' kind of way. even though yamaguchi is.......yamaguchi. but more so than that, in the event that eff and i want to do anything kind of tense between the two of them, yamaguchi can come by and kind of explain tsukki to kuroo in a way that can shed light on why he is the way he is (basically talk about how he's prideful but he also lacks self-esteem, isn't really sure he deserves a lot, how he's contradictory and a handful, but its totally worth it to try and bear through these things because underneath it all, tsukki is a really good person and he has a lot of love to give, but its just hard for him because he's scared of not being enough). really though, in the end, i think tsukki just really needs his bff =/
i took tsukki from...uhhhh, i mean i didn't super specify, it was definitely after the training arc, so he started applying himself to volleyball more. yamaguchi can be from anywhere, obviously i'd prefer if he was either from the same point as tsukki or after! so give me a bff, please and thank you!!!
