you are the ocean's grey waves
The only faces that red eyes see are the six she sees around her. The two servants that for such a long time were her only friends. Standing beside her, helping her, keeping her sane in the castle that became her prison. Her two brothers and two sisters. Prince Xander who trainer her, Leo who helps her, Camilla who loves her and Elise who stays close to her. Each time they visit for any reason at all her heart soars for they were her siblings. Her flesh and blood. Those who she had the strongest connection with.
But that never stopped the nightmares.
Each night she dreamed of a battlefield. A large open plane about to be ravaged by the grotesque images of war. Standing in the middle was a woman with long silver hair with ruby eyes darting from side to side, fear radiating from them. Her name was Corrin. Each side had people shouting. On one was the siblings she had come to love with their regular visits and teasing antics, the other were those she didn't know but felt a strong connection with. Words were thrown with three echoing inside her head before she awoke.
Then she was standing in a throne room. Finally laying eyes on the man who her four siblings had met many times before, the man they called father. Such pride she felt, knowing that he was finally allowing her an audience with the King of Nohr. Her father... but that was all before he commanded her to kill prisoners in cold blood, only to be kidnapped by the very people she had tried to kill.
destined to seek
Hoshido held secrets upon secrets which she didn't understand. For one she wasn't killed on sight by any member of the Hoshido army and it seemed as though all previous hostility was gone. There was a sick feeling building in her stomach, as though she knew the truth but her arms were too short to reach out and grasp it. While she may be grateful to be alive, the uneasy feeling of not knowing the truth was eating away at Corrin's insides.
But the truth was far more brutal than she had ever expected.
Those who had cared for her and wanted to spend time with her - Xander, Leo, Camilla and Elise - they weren't her flesh and blood. She wasn't related to them. Not in truth. Although they had done so much for her, she wasn't their true sister. Those standing around her now, the ones that she had been brought up to hate all her life, were the ones that were her birth family. Her mother was the Queen of Hoshido, her brothers were the Crown Price Royma and Takumi, her sisters Sakura and Hinoka. And she was the one who killed her mother.
The only gift she had ever gotten from her 'father' King Garon was cursed. It broke and attacked those around her, her mother leaping in front of the fire to shield her. She died in that blast and Corrin couldn't think. All rational thought disappeared. The next thing she knew Azura was in front of her, giving her what she would know as a Dragonstone. The only thing that could keep her sane.
Her dream came true. Two sides arguing, words echoing in her brain. Loyalty, Birthright and Family. On one side stood the family that raised her, that had loved her for all this time with nothing wanted in return. On the other were her birth family who had longed to see her again, never giving up on her even in their darkest hour. She didn't know. One would become her enemy, she would have to kill them. She wouldn't get a choice.
She chose to side with Nohr.
life beyond the shore just out of reach
Time and time again she fought in the name of her father, in the name of King Garon. But to what end? All she saw each time was more death and destruction, people dying at every step. There was no mercy in the Nohrian Kingdom. How many times had she closed her eyes to block the sights, only to be haunted by the screams of the dying? How many more times would she have to endure such things? This was supposed to have been the right choice.
But what if it was the wrong one?
Her siblings... her birth siblings. They hated her. Each time she saw Takumi his glared got more and more painful. That hatred was truly directed at her... and only her. No one else would have to endure such a glare and she was glad. All that hatred that he gave her, forced on her, it was justified. She had killed his mother then sided with her killers. She had betrayed the little trust that his family had in her. She had destroyed everything.
Each order she was given meant that more people had to die. All for the sake of a King that she was coming to hate. A man who only had greed and power on his mind, he didn't care for his family. He didn't care for the people that she loved. Yet there was no way to oppose him. If she did.... undoubtedly she would die.
She did this.
She trapped herself.
There was no escape.
